I really prefer to use Rechargable NiHm bateries.
I use the Wii and also my two kids, then using ordinary bateries is not a good option. And these specific type of batteries are very long lasting.

I use NIHM and find they work very well and hold a charge for a very long time-- longer than alkaline. With a charger you'll save a ton of money in a very short amount of time.

Save yourself some money and get the charging station. It costs about $30 and it's worth it because well you don't have to worry about batteries and buying new ones.

All you need is AA batteries. Doesn't matter if it's NiH, alkaline, or Ni-Cd. You can use Duracell, Energizer, or rechargeable batteries.

use alkaline batteries because it says in the manual to use them and no other types of batteries.

The best thing for you to do is buy a charging station. I paid $24.99 for mine. This prevents you from having to spend more money buying batteries.
