Why do we close our eyes when we sleep? When we cry? When we imagine? When we kiss?

1: If we didn't keep our eyes closed for 8 hours, they would be very dry - and PAINFUL - the next morning!

2: Closing the eyes when crying keeps the tears flowing. If you cry and don't blink, the water stays welled up in your eyes and creates an unpleasant watery feeling. (Believe me, I've tried it.)

3: If we close our eyes when we imagine, we can think up of a whole new scenery and concenctrate more on our thoughts.

4. As for kissing...? Well, people instinctively close their eyes when anything comes close to their face, so that might be it. I'm not sure.

If we didn't our eyes would dry out, surgeons tape eyes shut when in surgery. Crying, I have cried many times with my eyes open. I don't cry when I imagine. I close my eyes when I kiss or I'd go cross-eyed.

because your eyes need tears and moisture to work.. if you slept with your eyes open they'd turn into something gross.

when you cry your eyes have tears in them and it's just kinda hard to keep them open.

when you imagine you are accessing your "third eye", so I wouldn't consider them closed.

why would you want to imagine someone else while you're kissing on your girl? I always take a peek.

you can have your eyes open when you cry, imagine and kiss. you need them closed for the sleeping though.

We close our eyes when we sleep..Cause they would get all dried out and gross..We close out eyes when we cry to blink the tears away....We close our eyes when we kiss because our eyes will try to focus on something to close and it will cause pain.......Or maybe he is closing his eyes because he is trying to imagine he is kissing someone else....HA HA HA HA.....

I think we do it to better feel whatever it is we are feeling. With one of your senses impaired (your eyes closed so you cant see) your other senses are heightened. As with sleeping I'm not really sure about that.

concentration on a undeniable stimulus.. Be it on a actual, psychological, or emotional stimulation. It it rather is greater significant than what you're seeing, you shut your eyes to stop the seen stimulation.
