What is a good home made dinner I can cook for me and my sweetie?

I need something original and unique. We always eat meat and potatoes or mac and cheese. Same ol' Same ol'! Does anyone have any good recipes?

    Try this:

Grab some prawns that are cleaned but uncooked from your local deli/meat dept. Curl one and stick a skewer through the tail end first and then through the "head" and then the back (make sure they are curled tightly). Add about three more and cook on a griddle or flat pan with olive oil and garlic powder. Depending on your portions, you may want to cook 2-3 skewers per person as they will shrink. Cook until the skin turns white and the tail is pinkish. Do this on low heat so you don't burn the outside. To garnish, add pepper and paprika.

You can leave the shrimp on the skewer or take them off and serve on a bed of brown rice or pilaf. Check out instant rice or an Alfredo flavored rice selection from the store. If you don't like rice, spice up boring mashed potatoes with sour cream and shredded Parmesan (not the powder that you put on your pizza) which is usually available with the blocks of cheese at the store, although it should be in a bag. I will add a sprinkling of dried parley on the top to make it look nice, because it really doesn't add any flavor. You may also add a bit of garlic and/or onion powder for more flavor.

I like to serve this meal with asparagus and lemon wedges. Cut one inch off the bottom end of the asparagus (which is too tough to eat) and place in a steaming basket over a pot of boiling water. I have a smaller pot so I cut the stems in half to make them fit. Steam for approximately 10 minutes or until you can poke with a fork and not feel resistance. Arrange them is a fan facing the outer rim of the plate and drizzle melted butter over the tops.

This is a really easy meal to make once you get the hang of it and very inexpensive, especially in the summer months when asparagus is in season.

    Good luck with your meals!

id go with a more healthy way for dinner for two.

try using salmon and some healthy veggies. i took this off of beauty & the geek when she taught him how to cook a simple honey glazed salmon. instead i pair it up with wild rice or a nice fluffy risotto. if u dont kno wat risotto is....even better! a new experience. risotto basically looks like rice but is actually pasta. and who doesnt love pasta right? well with those two you can add veggies into the risotto or have sauteed on the side. and dotn forget about dessert! i say go easy by kicking it on the couch with a banana split with two spoons.

    hope this helps!
