Crimson And Clover by Tommy James And The Shondells.Song's presentation, focus on the world via a doped brain?

I have listened to this song for years, I love the song, but some-how the way how the song is presented it seems to focus on seeing the world through a drug addict's brain.i.e the musical organisation/arrangements.

Update:

I am not saying that Tommy James is a stoner.

Well, where I live, there is crimson clover. It is twice the size of a regular clover and crimson. Maybe that is what he meant, but he may have been having an attack of some kind.

I actually knew Tommy James back then. He recruited my band to sign with his record label, Roulette. He didnt seem like much of a stoner to me.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure WHAT you are saying!

If you have listened to the song for years you must like it so why are you worrying about it now after 45 years or more ????

Tommy wasnt much for the dope, but he did have a weakness for those teeny bopper groupies.
