Honda CRV tailgate?
I have a '04 CRV and my tailgate (backdoor) will not latch correctly. If I lift it up when I close it, it will close. 1) What causes this? 2)How do I fix it?
Thanks for your help.

you should really take it by a body shop and let them look at it.you may possibly need hinges they're pretty sturdy on the cr-v's but that spare tire adds a lot of extra weight and it's possible someone may have leaned on it too hard while it was open but it could be as simple as adjusting the stiker...take it by a shop and see what they say.
Don't spray wd-40 on the latch, use white lithium grease

Spray some WD-40 on the latch, and check to see if the latch is loose if it is just tighten the screws up and you should be fine. I had this problem with my prev suv (a 2001 jeep)

What causes it, thats an easy question it's because it's a cheap suv. How do you fix it that's even simpler you shouldn't have bought such a ugly suv.
