    Hi,

My old girl was on a combination of vivitonin and metacam for the last few years of her life, she was a cross border collie and it was prescribed to her because, due to advancing age, there would be times when she was very stiff, is all I can say is my girl was like a puppy again when she had this and she stayed with us until she was seventeen years of age. On her last check up at the vets a few months before the inevitable, the vet said that he had seen dogs that where half her age and in no where near as good condition as my baby girl.

There are all sorts of drugs that are used for one thing, but will help with others. Obviously that's what the vet has found with this one. If you are uncomfortable with the drug, or the answers you are getting from your vet, then you ask more questions or you find a new vet.

Just cause someone went to school, doesn't mean that they know everything. You know your pet better than the vet does, if you don't like it, say so. I question my vet all the time.. I want to know about the alternatives. I want to know about the side effects.. I want to make an informed decision. Don't be afraid to ask questions.. If they won't answer you, then find a new vet.. A vet should be on your side, and have your pets best interests at heart.. If he is too busy to talk to you, then he is too busy to spend your money!

I have never used this product but it is a blood thinner so will help her circulation which may help her to maintain muscle mass. I don't blame you for being worried. I would be worried too. Don't be afraid to ask your vet lots of questions. If your vet gives you a hard time, then change vets. Your dog belongs to you and you pay the vet to provide a service and part of that service means answering questions. The good ones don't mind at all and will try to help any way they can. Good luck with your dog. I hope the medicine helps.

Because it thins her blood, it will help it circulate better throughout her body. His hope is that a better blood flow will help the muscles stay fit rather than atrophy.

Your dog is 12. Nothing is going to help with this problem of aging very much. She is just nearing the end of her lifespan like all living things do.

Ollie in answer to your email i have to admit i have not heard of Vivitonin but i would think because of the similarity in name of the human prescription Simvistatin which i take daily for blood thinning after heart surgery I'm going to suggest it is infact a blood thinner for her so don't worry it will be beneficial and i do hope she goes onto a long life Good Luck! Bye

Don't know about that one but I got really stitched up when a Vet charged me £10.00 for each Diazapam tablet he had to give my cat to calm him down, 10 tablets in all, I think they make their own price on their drugs

There are a bunch of things you should know about dog training but we are going to discuss what I feel are some the most important. Keep in mind that these are only some of the things you should know. Go here http://onlinedogtraining.enle.info/?2mAy

    1. Repetition is the number 1 principle of dog training. Dogs just like humans learn by doing things over and over in order to get better.

    2. Dog Training can and should be fun for both you and your new pet.

    3. Training sessions should always be short but sweet. I never work a dog more than 15 minutes in a session to keep from losing the dog's attention. You should train you dog at least once a day but never more than three formal sessions a day.

    4. Your goal should be that each training session is just a little bit better than the last one. You need to always strive to make the training better, slowly. I mention this because quite often I see people who do daily training sessions but the dog never gets better and it is not the dogs fault.

    5. Having patients is very important in dog training. Losing your temper does not work with a canine it simply makes things worse.

    6. Exercise is very important in the training process to get rid of all the dogs nervous energy.

    7. Taking your pet for walks is very important because it develops serotonin which gives your dog a feeling of well being.

    8. Always be sure to give your dog a bunch of praise in your training. It is your dog's paycheck for doing a great job.

    9. Never hit your dog. I have heard people say I never hit my dog instead I roll up a magazine and swat it. It's the same thing... hitting is hitting.

    10. After each training session be sure to do something that your dog will enjoy. Take it for a walk, throw the ball or maybe even rub its belly. Just do something that makes the dog look forward to the next training session.

These are things that I teach my dog training students as well as my dog training clients. I hope these things will give you something to think about when training your dog. Spend some time training your dog daily and you will both reap the benefits.

you answered the question when you asked yours

its for blood circulation - strokes are blockages in the arteries and veins. The medication you get for that helps with blood circulation

  • 1 decade ago

our previous girl was on it after she had a stoke for 3 years before she died. It would help blood circulation because it was used to keep a healthy supply of blood to her brain I think
