DDR2 800MHz in a DDR2 533MHz bus?

If I put DDR2 800MHz dual channel memory in a 533MHz dual channel bus will it just run at 533MHz like the old sdram did? ( ie: put 133MHz in a 100MHz slot it runs at 100MHz ) Or is it gonna burn something out? I just bought the wrong speed and really dont wanna go through the trouble of returning it.Im not mixing it, the motherboard says 533MHz max. Its one im building. Thanks

Make sure your 800mhz stick of ram is backwards compatible with your motherboard's bus speeds. Even in the worst case scenario, you power up and you get the beeping noise that your system is missing ram. Its very unlikely that you can damage your hardware by trying it out.
