Because more than likely it would take up too much space.
There may be a certain amount of bandwidth that Y! Q&A's allows to keep these message boards up and running smoothly. Some images can be 2 MB alone; or more.
Even some email address wont allow no more than 16 MB.
So, if there were serveral different people posting images here; it could slow down the incoming of the next messages.

You can post a link to the picture and tell people the same thing. Ive seen many people do it.
