Depending an where you are staying, the hotel will provide you a map of the city and there are always leaflets with tons of information on where you can go and how to get there. Cabs are your best bet for transport in the city.

Navy pier, a boat ride on the lake, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, Hard Rock Cafe are a few. See web sites below.

1.Sears tower -you can see most of chicago from104 th floor
2.Lake michigan tour
3.Millennium park
4.Shedd aquarium
5.Adler planatorium
6.musuem of sci and industry
7.Visit Grant park for festivals out there

take the tour of the city via lake/yacht... it is very nice. It is about $50 per person...
