What percent of time do librarians give to different tasks?
I'm trying to find internet links to time studies on library work. Particularly I'm interested in public libraries and youth services or children's librarians. For example: how much time is given for programming, for reference, for book processing, for overseeing staff, for reader's advisory, etc.
This is for my local library, that needs to know what would be considered the average time apportioned for different duties.
I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before. Maybe some library did a study. Sure it will be different for each library, but it would give us a starting place.

It probably depends on the library. A small town library is going to be completely different from a main branch library in a major city. There may not be a lot of studies in this area, so your best bet is to ask around at your local libraries.

I suggest visiting a local library and asking. I know that the children's librarian where I work would be more than happy to answer those questions but her answers would definitely not be the same for others in the same library system.
