What is the standard on tipping your tattoo artist??
I AM GETTING A HALVE SLEEVE FOR MY FIRST TATTOO, AND I THINK ITS GOING TO BE ABOUT 8-10 HOURS OF WORK AND COST AROUND $1000.

there is no standard, actually. In fact, a lot of places in Europe don't allow tips at all.
If you feel the need to tip, tip what you feel is appropriate. odds are you're going to be doing this in a few sessions, so don't feel like you have to tip a TON every time. Infact, as you get to know your artist, you may find that they have a certain thing they collect (my piercer collects old temporary tattoos for example) and you can try to get them something to add to their collection. Or you can just bake them a huge batch of cookies. Money is nice, don't get me wrong, but it means a lot to know the person you're putting a lot of your time and energy into is actually listening to you.
Anyway, if you want a "standard," 20% is usual for the US.

First off, that shop is charging way too much and that's their tip. Half a sleeve for a grand? That's rediculous.

I gotta go with Chic... 5 for every 25 is good. (It's what I give the girl at the nail salon) so you're lookin at around 40 bucks.
