Are you a good boss?

I have never been anyone's boss, and throughout life I have liked very few of my bosses. Are you disliked by your staff? Why? Do you care? Are you really as bad as people think? What do you have to say about it? Have you forgotten what it's like to be controlled completely by someone else? Are you as good as you think you are? Did you get a lucky break or did you earn it? Honest answers please.

I am my own boss so I have nobody to hate - or be mad at.

Although I have a sales team and wished they would do a lot more then they do- it's their loss not mine -

I have been a manager (RN) and get pushed around I am way to nice and fall for everyone stupid personal stuff.

My husband and his family run a company - and its tough being the "bad" guy in charge but you know what you are running a business -

Some bosses shouldn't be there - and some are great -

    it's how life is.

I was an assistant manageress of a large company and what employees appreciate most is having incentives in place so that when they reach their target, they get a bonus. Staff also appreciate you asking them for an input onto the company and whether they have a great idea that will work for the company. If their idea is a success they then get promoted, so its a win win situation. Another thing that makes great workers within your staff, is empowering the people.Do these sort of things for your staff and you will have a well oiled company.

Hi Teaholic I am a coffeeholic. I have had my fill of very bad bosses. I took cues from them as to what I didn't want to do. And I don't. I take everyone on a case by case basis and I reference and keep in mind that they are individuals with their differing needs. Differing motivation factors, differing work stratigies and ethics.
