Pentium 4 with HyperThreading (HT) is old technology. It leaks a lot of current, resulting to high power consumption and excessive HEAT. Many users just turn off HT to reduce HEAT.
HT is supposed to run a virual processor such that it appears to be a dual core. But the technology was flawed. It turned out to be a good space heater.

if i'm no longer improper your interl 2.8 could already be HT enabled because it has a FSB of 533MHZ and and a 512KB cache. being very honest you particularly dont elect HT because it incredibly is needed for top quantities of parallel scientific calculation tyoe eventualities and to your config its cool. additionally i wouldn advise you changing the processor on my own on your modern board as an FSB mismatch would reason your device to freeze each and every now and then..in basic terms be slightly careful approximately that gamble..it may prove costly in an prolonged time..if your incredibly hell bent then i'd advise a clean mom board and definately no longer INTEL, optimal ASUS..!

The top proceesor for your computer is the Petium m 735 . the top memory is 2 gigs of333mghtz ddr 2700. without being there with you to do it your best bet is purchase it from newegg.com or tiger direct.com. Then take it to best buy and pay them to install it. Check and see what processor you allready have in your lap top first. good luck
