Who is the best raper alive?

*NOTICE*

If any Mo Fo came here to say Lil' Wayne just leave right now because his name isn't worthy to be even mentioned with the artists that we'll talk about so just leave, u'll save time and humiliation. Thanx.

the best rapper alive would either be Nas or Rakim, hip hop is dead was a great album and i can't wait for rakim's called the seventh seal. but i think those two are the best lyricists ever, but thats my opinion so lemme hear yallls

Update:

for those of you who said huey and yung joc they count in the notice too

Update 2:

yea i kno i speled RAPPER wrong but you know wtf im talkin about

Update 3:

REASON 4 NOTICE!

people dont need to mention Nas or Rakim's mixtapes to classify them into the best, unlike lil wayne where everyone only talks about mixtapes but weezy dont have no classic albums and he has ghost writers

Update 4:

and for all thoses people saying when they pick lil wayne its just an opinion, yeah i know but its a ridiculous opinion. to me its like sayin the sky isnt blue, its such a ignorant opinion that so many facts can prove it wrong

the majority of lil wayne fans are teens and girls, a number of them have never been exposed to real hip hop nor do they take the time to listen to it (im not sayin that about all lil wayne fans, but some of them)..not takin anything away from lil wayne because he does have some talent but his fans overrate him, it really doesnt matter how much evidence you present they're still gonna say lil wayne is the best. Why? thats beyond me....men lie. women lie. numbers dont. Nas has produced some of the greatest albums in hip hop history along with some of the most lyrical verses anyone has ever heard, lyrics that actually have a message, not just metaphors that are thrown into a song because they rhyme...He has recieived praise from rapping legends and critics alike as one of the greatest rappers of all time...did you get that? of all time...not just at one point in his career because he said he was the best, or because he was flooding the game with mixtapes, or because the majority of the hip hop world was hopping on him, its because of his true talent as an MC that few in history have ever matched.

I can't believe some of these answers. Huey? Lil Wayne? Are you serious???? Some people said 2Pac. Best rapper ALIVE people. ALIVE. This is a hard one. So many that have great lyrical skills. KRS-One, Eminem, Rakim, Jay-Z, Nas, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common......

Old School.....there is no doubt. Rakim. KRS is not that far off but I'd have to give the edge to Rakim

Newer School......I'd have to say Eminem. Nas is a crazy lyrical poet and one of my favorite rappers but Eminem has an amazing ability with words and with flow. His subject is a little bugged out at times but you can't doubt that this man has some amazing skills with the English language.

    Thats my word

    I have 3 choices:

1- Common is way underrated but definitely one of the best Hip Hop artists alive. Be album: 'nuff said.

2- I'd put Skillz on the same level as Common. He ghost writes for some of your favorite rappers.

3 - Finally, I'd have to say Nas. I like that he's not selling out to the mainstream. I give him MUCH props as an artist for that. And to me, that will make his music sound better, because it won't be a marketing move designed to sell cds.

But even though Nas is good and has been around for almost 20 years, let's be real. Nas has been kinda 'hit and miss' over the years. For example, nobody really remembers Nastradamus. It came out in '99 and only had a couple of decent tracks on it. He's came back since then. I liked the Lost Tapes, and Hip Hop Is Dead, is an example of him at his best.

Just ONE THING about Nas... I REALLY wish he would stop sampling played out 80's songs before he starts to sound like Puffy, and we DEFINITELY don't want that!

Source(s): A lifetime of listening to Hip Hop.

I don't think there is a "Best Rapper" alive right now. 2Pac and Biggie held it down in a way that no rapper ever could. I would say that Nas and Jay-Z are the closest (Nas even closer). T.I., Ludacris, Lil' Wayne, etc. (Dirty South rappers) are always going to be noticed but will not get earn the label as a "Hip-Hop Legend."

The best rappers alive are. AZ, Raekwon, Black Thought, Noriega and Copone (War Report) Prodigy of Mobb Deep prior to signing w/ G unit. Oh by the way I used to be a big rap fan. I mostly listen to dance music/ house. Rap is fading fast. There is no more real hip hop. I'ts all about 22's on the cadillac and gettin crunk. Rap used to be about phat beats, spitting sick ryhmes about life. Rap will die off in a couple years.

Like Nas says there is no best rapper on Either. Some of my favorites emcees are Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, KRS-ONE, NAS, Mos Def, Common, Kool G Rap, Scarface, Slick Rick, Ice Cube, Andre 3000, Cee lo Green, and Beanie Seagal. All of these "EMCEES" are supreme at something. LIl Wayne and Jay Z can fight over who's the best rapper alive. The guys I named along with a few others are "Supreme Emcees". Meaning they graduated from being rappers along time ago. Rapping is high school. Emceeing is PH Ding.

If you talkin bout "rappers" you have to include the complete package meaning image, delivery, lyrics, sound and last but not least does the dude even sound believable.... With all that I would have to say HOV or 2pac were the most rounded in these categories... not to leave biggie out at all but he just doesnt have enough material out there.

But if you talkin bout lyrical talent then you have to go with names like Nas, Em and even Canibus for all you haters out there, dont front in 98 he had the streets on smash.....

ight since u took out one of the ones tied for da best it has 2 b T.I. why does everybody ask this question can't u just go and look at other people who have asked the same question. And for the people who said 2pac or biggie they where the greatest but they are DEAD. The ? asks who is the best rapper ALIVE.

  • anyone who say's lil wayne is a hip hop idiot...by the way, the best rapper alive is Rakim (still the fiend of a microphone)

  • Rakim, Wayne is garbage. Rakim can kill Nas though, as good as Nas is I doubt Nas would come out on top trying to go against him. We simply haven't seen all of what Rakim has to offer, whereas Nas is running at peak capacity on his records. Yeah those Mo Fo's riding Wayne's *, please, lol.
