I have two Chihauhas ....one barks quite a bit and ...?

his barking is becoming quite a problem . Both dogs get plenty of attention .. He started out just barking when the mailman cam to the door, or outside noises. Now he barks for up to 30 minutes at a time. It is beginning to drive my wife nuts .. and I'm not to thrilled with it either. Any ideas beyond squirt bottles and correcting collars to help with this situation ? What would you do to stop the constant barking ? Thank you :)

when the dog begins to bark try to clam him down by petting, holding. correctional collars aren`t bad for the dog. our neighbor's dog has one and after a few times he has learned not to bark excessively. holding the dog in front of your face and say no in a harsh tone will usually stop them from barking as well. discipline is not bad for a dog

  • Some dogs just bark a lot.

Unless you are accidentally doing something to encourage this behavior (like giving him attention, including telling him to shut up), you might need to look at debarking. Or just live with it.
