Heartworms were fairly rare .. even long ago. Now that we use products like HeartGuard Plus .. and I use it on my dog 12 months a year ... is there any real reason that Vets require me to shell out $80 a year to test my dog for heartworm? The chances were not that great .. years ago .. and with him taking the medication EVERY MONTH of the year .. isn't this just a way to force the consumer to cough up $80 a year for nothing? While on the medication 12 months a year .. what are the REAL chances of a dog getting heartworm? 1 in a Million I bet. Any honest Vets care to answer this one? Thanks. :)

I have two Chihuahas. They are a little over a year old now. One of them, after a booster shot, seemed fine .. but a few days later ,he started to whimper a lot . It's been over a week now and the same thing. I already told the vet.. with no answer. He is due for 2 more boosters next week . When he is sleepy and breathes out he makes a sound through his nose like he is not happy a little whiny, almost like a tea pot when it is about to start whistling, a sad sound .. and it doesn't stop for quite some time. Also, his behavior is the same .. plays with his brother .. barks .. etc. But esp. in the mornings and evenings ... with me holding him, or just by himself .. laying on his bed .. he makes that sad whisteling sound through his nose now . Could it have anything to do with booster shots ? .. Just cuirous if any Vet's have an opinion ... OR if your dog was affected by a booster shot ? Thank you ! :) PS His eyes don't seem to open as wide as they used to in the morning.

It is about one year old.. it has some fairly tough green algae on the glass .. I've taken the water out .. except for the rocks and left-over water/sludge that is left at the bottom of the tank. I have heard that White Vinegar is good to use to get the glass clean and will not hurt future fish that live in the tank. Any tips for getting the tank all cleaned up and ready to go ? his barking is becoming quite a problem . Both dogs get plenty of attention .. He started out just barking when the mailman cam to the door, or outside noises. Now he barks for up to 30 minutes at a time. It is beginning to drive my wife nuts .. and I'm not to thrilled with it either. Any ideas beyond squirt bottles and correcting collars to help with this situation ? What would you do to stop the constant barking ? Thank you :)

My 5 month old Chihauha .. was neutered this past Tuesday .. I took him ( and his brother) home. Juno, (the brother) , was fine .. Switch , seemed to be more quiet . . thought he needed more rest .. to make a LONG story shorter .. Switch started bleeding from what seemed to be the penis ... NOT where the stiches are. The Doctor admitted to me today over the phone that he "nicked" the uretha .. and didn't want to "worry me" .. so he said nothing . . so when he started to bleed at 1:30 in the morning .. I brought him into an emergency hospital ( the Bill was $230.00) .. my doctor said there is nothing to worry about and that the bleeding will stop completely soon. But twice today, he has had more bright drops of blood come from the same area.. drippiing on the plastic where he and his brother are penned. The most important question I have, is how can I (or that doctor) .. be so f**king sure that this will heal over properly? What would you do ??? Thank you !!!

about 4 months old each. They are from the same litter and are brothers. They are always together. Up to this point in time, I have been home with them all day and have given them a lot of human contact. I know they enjoy being held a lot. However, my schedule may soon be changing and they would be left alone for about 8 hours a day in their playpen that is in a hexagon form of 7' by 7' .. lots of area. Naturally, they have food, fresh water, and a potty area. My question is: Since they are used to me being home and giving them human contact throughout the day and evening hours .. will this "ruin" their personalities if they are left alone 8 hours everyday (excluding weekends). They play with each other and sleep together .. but without the human contact for that amount of time, will it change them ?? Thank you for reading this and your answer ! :)

I would like to change it to a saltwater fish tank. I have heard that salt water tanks are a lot more difficult to maintain and keep the fish alive .. and more expensive (?) .. Could you tell me a few reasons that saltwater fishtanks require so much more time and skill than freshwater tanks? Thank you ! :)

When a person is stuck in a very cold area, why is it important to stay awake and not fall asleep ? Suppose you are lost and in your car in freezing weather .. how does it help your chances to survive by staying awake ? Why would you die more quickly if you fall asleep ? Thank you.

how do you litter-box train them ? Have any of you done this .. or have tips for doing this ? .. I was thinking of starting with kitty litter .. in a cat box .. with the puppy pad over the kitty litter .. then cut down the size of the puppy pad until there was little or no need for the pad at all .. I don't know how well small paws adjust to the litter .. do dogs dislike clean litter that clumps ? ... Anything you know about this.. or sites you can recommend me to would be most appreciated. I don't know the best way to house break these little guys .. I could see teaching them to go on papers or in a sandbox .. but it won't be easy. With my Boxer .. it was easy .. but two tiny babies .. ? Any ideas how best to housebreak them .. either to go on papers, sandbox, or outside ? .. How did you do it ? .. Thanks ! :)

I am considering purchasing a 150 gallon fishtank set-up from Pet-co .. their name brand. The tank and extras cost about $400.00 the wooden stand costs an additional $400.00. I currently have a 55 gallon tank. Say that the tank weighs approx. 1800 pounds when fully set-up .. couldn't it do damage to the wood floor .. could the weight be too much and warp the wood under it .. or crash through ? . It is a hard wood floor. What do you think of a 150 gallon fish tank .. if you have one that size .. how do you have it set up ? What special equipment, if any will I need to keep it running correctly ? Thank you for any information you can share with me .. or websites to send me to. :)

I recently heard that new photos of Tom Cruise in the news have shown that he has gained a ton of weight. His 5'7" frame body weighs something like 205 now ? .. Anyone else seen or heard of these reports ? Curious to know. If you have links to photos please share. Thank you !
