Should I go to the show, or my Uncle's Graduation???

I have a dilemma. I have been working with a local band helping support and promote and I made a promise that I wouldn't miss anymore events or shows (I missed 2 because of plans made prior to helping out).

My Uncle( Whom has come a looong way and who I am extremely close too) is Graduating a Police Academy.

Graduation is @7pm in one city, and the band goes on stage at about 10pm in another city. I don't have a car.

I know if I don't go see my Uncle graduate, he'd be really upset, but I don't want to let the band down either (Plus my boyfriend wants to go to the show and isn't close with my Uncle, and he will not go to the show alone)

I have no idea what I should do.......any suggestions are wonderful..thanks...

Well, you can't be in two places at once, but you can try ot be at both at different times.

I would go to your Uncles graduation, then get a cab or friend to drive you as quickly and safely as you can to get to the show.

Even if you aren't there for set up, you are a known supporter of the band, making your appearance, even if it's a little later into the evening, is still supporting the band. And you can always help with the after the show details right?

You'd kick yourself in the butt if you missed out on this gradutation.

Let me merge two answers here!

As the TC said, graduation is NEVER gonna happen again.

But the show of the band will go on and you can always join them even towards the end! Nobody will notice.

I think you should either get some money to get a car OR drop the show and attend the graduation.

Eric, Im sure, will certainly wont mind missing one show or going alone.

    Hope this helps.

Not sure you'll like my answer, dear, but what I think is: The Uncle is more important, older, and his Graduation is an unique event, the band will have other shows. Also, you're dealing with people's feelings, and who do you think will be more hurt, if you aren't there?

In the end, it's up to you, of course but, whatever you decide, take the time to talk to them all, explain the situation, and let them know how important they are to you.

    Good luck!!

And, please, congratulate your uncle for me!! :)

i suppose you should honor the first commitment you made, and the world is not going to end if you miss your uncles graduation
