Your child is right! Go to this website, and click of the "12,000 Years of Bottled Water History". It's a cute little slide show that you can watch to learn a little bit more about how bottled water came about!

The whole bottled water fad is really out of hand. its been proven time and again that its compairable to tap water.

People will get suckered into anything. Smaller size water = gimic for more profit, less water.

I would say maybe the last 17 years or so. I am only 29 and don't remember it being mass marketed when I was really young.

I remember my grandfather starting his bottling plant in the 1960's, but that was for 5gal coolers. He said it'd never sell in smaller bottles. Wow, did he miss the mark.

7 years ago (ish).. I'm 20, and i remember having to have to take a sport bottle to basketball all The way until 6th grade.. then they came out with Fiji and arrowhead, and during soccer they sold out all of the sudden on the new break through in convenience and advertisement in better quality.. genius idea..

p.s.. the led in tap isn't good for you when you are active physically.. i can feel the slap to my nimble performance.. though the floride in the tap is great to take on when you're just at home and doing some homework or something..

Source(s): you saw the news talking about it too ehh?.. now all of the sudden the world is pist.. like "oh yeah.. you're right.. this idea is stupid and will hurt our environment.. plus, it's a fad"... convenience is not a fad, and c'mon.. that bottled water is too big to stop.. most people that use it are on the go go go, and don't care care care..

hahahha thats funny. yeah it kinda just happened like the whole YOU NEED HAND SANITIZER OR YOU'LL DIE craze. remember when you would play outside and drink water from the hose in the summer, get scraped up and hide it so you could keep playing and not have to get bandaged and cleaned up hahaha those were the days
