What are the reasons why do Y!A team suspend or delete Y!A account?

Do they do investigations before deleting/suspending or it all depends whether they want the user or not?

(just asking)

Update:

no, it was LORD Z's account... he's one of the best answerer and yet I can think of any reason why his acct was being suspended

    Official answer:

"In a large majority of the cases people who are being suspended or loosing their accounts are warned with an email way in advance. In suspension cases we offer numerous warnings to people to let them know that their posts are not acceptable to us and they need to cease. However, there are some people who chose to ignore the warning and continue posting abusive posts. After a certain point, depending on the amount and the magnitude of the abuse, the person looses access to their Yahoo! Answers account. These people are suspended from Yahoo! Answers, the people who have lost their entire accounts have violatated the overall Yahoo! Terms of Service that they read and agreed to upon signing up for the account. These violations can happen on other Yahoo! properties outside of Yahoo! Answers, but if a person has broken these they are given warnings before the loss of account. It is because people do not read these emails, ignore them, or understand and chose to continue on anyway they lose their accounts. We cannot let people who have broken the Terms of Service multiple times, across Yahoo!, continue to do so." - answer posted by a Y/A staff member at http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&... .

"An account can only be reactivated if we find there was an error in applying the community guidelines or Yahoo! Terms of Service." - see Jane F.'s answer at http://messages.answers.yahoo.com/Answers/threadvi... .

Refer to the Y/A guidelines (http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines... ) for 20 reasons (not all of them severe enough to warrant a suspension) and Yahoo Terms of Service (http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/utos/utos-173... ). By the way, there are many other ways to lose Y/A access besides being suspended by Y/A (see #6 and #15 of the Terms of Service).

Your other account was probably suspended because you are only supposed to have one account. Those questions are mostly chat violations but they did not get your account suspended. Maybe you arent yet 13? Maybe there were other questions and answers you conveniently didnt mention..anyway, you should read the rules because this question became a violation when you ranted Yahoo answers really sucks today.

someone reports it and then they investigate and see if it goes against the terms of service and then they decide what to do...i know because my first account got suspended

They don't investigate crap... when you get enough violations notices... you are gone... but the only people that are bothered by this are the people who are too stupid to know how to get another account if all of 5 minutes.

Accounts are deleted for major controvening of policy (obscene avatars, cloning, insulting and derisive comments, consistant and regular abuse notices)

Accounts are suspended for far less (usually point gaming).

The staff says they "investigate", but you should understand that if your account is suspended, it actually means that you have a "non-deletion banishment" and that account is never coming back

sometimes the filter does the deleting. other times they do it after being reported. most often, they delete items because they took it out of context and if you appeal, they could reinstate the deletion except for the points.

I imagine it has something to do with how many times you've been reported for abuse, how severe was the abuse, and how much time has passed since you were last reported.
