How is interacial dating viewed in the Gay/Lesbian community?

My cousin has recently come out of the closet and my African American religious conservative family has been suprisingly supportive. Everything was all good until they met his white Boy friend. It seems to me that it bothers them more that he's dating a person outside of his race, not the fact that he is Gay. Do people in this community have a problem with that or are they more accepting of interacial relationships than some straights? Thanks for your answers :)

I think the community is generally accepting of interacial couples. I have a few good friends who are interracial and i've never seen them have any trouble from other gay people.

Since we know what it is like to be persicuted about who we love we're not very likely to petty over differnt ethnicitys.

That been said you can be gay and a racisit and there are probably some homosexuals who would be hostile, I however think that these would be rather uncommon and not very popular people.

No, the truth is the Gay community can be extremely bigotted and predjudiced based on race. In the world that we live in race trumps everything and it shows. I've never understood why an oppressed group would turn around and oppress others when they get the chance too. But it happens and the gay community participates as well. Interacial dating is largely considered ok in the gay community but there are plenty of hateful gay people in the world who contribute to this problem that seems to persisit. Race based objectification is rampant in the gay community and all it does it inhibits us from really getting to know the fact about each other.

In large cities interacial dating is starting to be no big deal . Its about time. Anyway , as far as the gay scene , in my opinion , its always been more accepted than among straights .

Like with any other community, there are racist gays and lesbians and non-racist gays and lesbians.

there are african american families that would prefer their son date a white woman than a black man.

it really depends on the person in question and how screwed up he/she is.

no race, religion, or sexual orientation or any other group has a monopoly on stupidity. It's amazing just how ubiquitous stupidity is.

I think it is more acceptable in this community because a lot of parents feel like, well, what the hell, they're already dating someone of the same sex.

My cousin is white and his boyfriend is black and it was hard on my family because he was black more than he was gay though because they are so country/southern/close-minded.

Source(s): I'm gay... and I know lots of people that date in-out-race, I've dated a black girl, my current girlfriend has dated a black girl AND a black guy, etc.

I don't have any problem with whatever two consenting, informed adults do. If they like each other, good for them. Making a decision about a person based on race or skin color is just ignorant.

If you're gay, then you don't care about race... bc if you can take a d1ck, you can tolerate just about anything.

As for your family... they have a right to be upset and bothered by the idea, but that's their poragative... you can feel anyway you want about something.

Perfectly okay with me. I am color-blind. I see people - not colors.

This should not really matter...not to me.
