Stupidity in the Heat!! Sorry, have to vent!!?
I am getting so freaking tired of hearing about babies and pets dying in hot cars!!!!!!! How does this happen, I mean, how can you NOT notice if your giggly child was around?? Aurghhh.
Drunk? Stressed? It should not matter, the child comes first. Per the first responder........STUPID is the best answer.
However, I do like the alarm idea. Good one.

Yes, its very annoying and horrible....I, too, can not understand how a person just "forgets" their child in the car...I have a 15 1/2 month old and never once have I forgotten that he was w/ me nor has his father! It really disgust me!!!

It's pretty sad, people go through a screening process to get a pet but any dumba-- can have a child... These people should be sentenced to a hot car parked in the sun with the windows rolled up on a very hot summer day.

Dear mamacass, I totally agree with you.It seems though on an almost daily basis we hear of people leaving their children or pets unattended in either a poorly or unventilated vehicle. The only reason I could come up with for this tragedy to occur would be that the heat has also affected their thought processes and impaired their judgement.Whether its the fact that people feel they need to multi-task and become overwhelmed, thereby forgetting something that would be obvious to anyone else. The truth is this: we are all human and make mistakes, sometimes these mistakes have minor consequences, some times they end in tragedy

Well it happens because people are getting lazier and lazier every day. Shoot, one company said that they came out with a TP dispenser that automatically dispenses TP! Now THAT'S lazy!
What you can do about it is to call 911. If it is extremely hot, this is an emergency. Every state has laws against leaving pets and children in cars like this. Just call the authorities, and have them take care of it.

It is sad- but there has to be a mental condition going on there.
Maybe cars will be armed with a "baby - dog in car alarm" when a door is shut- the car would sense the weight of something inside.

Baby is asleep. Parent is extremely stressed and forgetful..possibly hung over or going through some unbelieveable situation. Or parent just thinks it's not that hot and doesn't realize temperatures can rise so quickly.

I know, these stories drive me insane every summer. What kind of idiot goes into the store even for 2 minutes and leaves their sleeping toddler (or dog) in the sweltering heat? I'll stop now, lest I go on all day about it!

I so agree with you
