quick baby shower gift?
what's an easy, cheap, original baby shower gift I could pick up today on my way to my friend's baby shower?
I'm already throwing her a party for her and her friends, so that's the biggest gift, but i wanted something to bring to her family's shower. any ideas?? thanks!

Very nice of you to throw the shower. Best thing you can do is think of mommy. Go and buy her a maternity night gown for the hospital or some type of bath and body works fragrances for her hospital bag. She will love it---everyone forgets about mommy.

Do you have or could you get a lazy susan or little turntable?? If you do you could take the diapers and roll them up and rubber band them and stack them on the turntable putting the Balmex and wipes in between. Usually this is done with more stuff though like toys and other baby things stuffed in between the diapers, but if thats all you have it'll do. My cousin did this for my baby shower and it was cool. If you don't have the turntable, try just rubberbanding everything together stuffing the wipes and balmex in between the diapers. Good luck!!

I don't know what your definition of "cheap" is but heres a suggestion. how about a custom boo boo kit? you can find small animal shaped resusable ice gel packs. I got one at the grocery store for $2, get a tube of neosporin, hurt free antiseptic wash, some colorful bandaids and a red washcloth. Red works wonders because it disguises blood. kids panic over seeing blood. you can get that for less than $20, you an grab a cheap plastic box for it all.
or look for a prepackaged "safety kit" with outlet covers etc.

When I was pregnant I was obsessed with reading about my baby's weekly development. Buy her a book with that information. You should be able to find it in the pregnancy or parenting section of any book store. If she's already pretty far along, they also have books on baby's weekly development during the first year of life.

My favorite item is a bottle drying rack. Even if she breastfeeds she will need it when juices and water are introduced. Wal-mart carries a munchkin brand one that is nice and comes w/ a bottle brush too. It runs about 6 dollars, so it's affordable. I didn't receive mine at my shower and all the showers I've attended or worked at didn't have any either, so it's pretty original :D Good luck!

A nappy cake or nappy bouquet...which is a whole lot of linen goods, like baby towels, face washers, cloth nappies, blankets etc, all packaged up to look like a bouquet or cake.
You can never have too much of these items, even if you plan to use disposable nappies, it's always good to have some cloth ones on hand to wipe up spills or change baby on etc.

I would go with a gift bag with lotion, baby wash, diaper cream, diapers, and wipes. Stuff like that is a great gift.

Flowers! You can pick them up at your local supermarket and they can whip up a cute bouquet that will bring the mother to be a smile. *Good Luck and Smiles*
