I love football - is it okay for me to play fantasy football?
I'm having a hard time finding a fantasy football league that will let a woman play. I'm not a total expert on stats like alot of guys, but I do enjoy and understand the game.

Just try Yahoo!. Women should be able to play fantasy football if you want to. During the league sign-up, go to browse custom and search for ones with women in it. If you feel like it, do it. Remember, without women, we wouldn't be here right now ;-)

You can get some practice on free sites. Yahoo has a free fantasy game as well as one for a fee. You can have up to 4 free teams. A lot of people get into a league and then don't pay attention after the draft (if they even show up for that), so it's not necessarily the most competitive, but you can get the idea. ESPN, NFL.com, etc also have free games.
Different leagues have different scoring rules and the number of teams in the league makes a big difference. Make sure you understand how points are scored and how many players you have to start at each position, and pay attention to bye weeks. Some leagues require that each team start 3 wide receivers, which means you have to have at least 4 on your roster to cover bye weeks. Many people do not draft backup defenses, kickers or tight ends, with the idea that it's better to load up on running backs and receivers and then drop an underachiever and add whatever they need to cover a bye week through free agency. Of course, if you draft well you will also have trade bait. My best advice is get lots of quality running backs, just enough receivers to meet the requirements and never draft a kicker before the last round.

Do NOT wait until the 3rd round to draft your first RB! Successful fantasy teams have to be built around a starting RB. By the 3rd round the top 20 RBs (at least) will be gone, assuming your league has halfway decent managers. If you're drafting late in the 1st round, gabbing Fitzgerald wouldn't be too bad a decision, but you sure as heck better grab a RB early in round 2. RBs are the most valuable players in fanatasy for a few reasons, even if they don't score as many total points as QBs. 1) Goaline carries. Touchdowns are worth more than yards in standard leagues, and while all QBs get a couple TDs a game, only the best RBs get opportunities at the goal line. 2) They're reliable. There aren't as many variable with RBs as there are with QBs and WRs. Where a star QB can screw you by throwing 3 INTs or a #1 WR can go a whole game with only 2 cathces, star RBs ALWAYS get carries. They have to. 3) The difference b/w the #2 or 3 RB and the 12th or 13th RB is usually a lot more than the same comparison with QBs or WRs. Thus, build your team around RBs. A lot of experienced fantasy players will draft RB, RB, RB in the first 3 round even if they can only start 2. I don't recommend this always, but it shows you how valuable they are. Like an above answer said, check the scoring in your league to make sure what I'm saying is accurate. And your draft picks will depend on what pick you have, but let's say you have the 6th pick out of 12 teams, I would draft: pick 6: RB pcik 18: RB/WR (depending who's available pick 30: WR/RB pick 42: WR pcik 56: QB

Yea, I think it would be okay. Sorry, but my league is already full. But yea, I don't see anything wrong with a girl playing Fantasy Football. Anyone who loves the game should be allowed. If you want, you could create your own league. You could then ask a question on here to see if any other girls want to join.

Well don't tell them your a women. If I were a commish, I would have no problem letting a girl play FF. There's nothing wrong. If you're really having a hard time, just join a public league. Then the other people have no say whether or not you can play.

Just join a Yahoo public league. It's free and the other people don't even know your gender.

Find it hard to believe you couldn't find a league. Know lots of people always looking for signups to their leagues. You can always go online (such as at Yahoo) and just not reveal your gender.
