Which is better San antonio or Houston Texas?

I'm in the process of moving out to texas and I'm deciding between San Antonio or Houston. I'm going to be starting over there and would like a nice place to live in with a lot of job oppurtunities.

My wife and I just returned from a week in San Antonio recently, and I lived there for a while back in the 80s. We had a great time.

But, if you want the best job opportunities, move to Houston. San Antonio's economy runs off of the following three categories, and in this order: Tourism, the military, and insurance. If you don't want to bartend, be a waiter, sell insurance, or wipe wings go to Houston. San Antonio is more of a service industry town.

Houston, on the other hand, has a very broad economy. We're energy, banking, medical research, services, and manufacturing.

Yes, we have traffic (still much better than Dallas or especially LA), and yes it is humid here (we're airconditioned everywhere), but the plusses outweigh the minuses by a lot. There is lots more to do here than in San Antonio, as well. We have more than one sports team, a better zoo, a much broader nightlife, one of the best symphonies in the country, and I could go on and on. San Antonio has... (drumroll please) the Riverwalk. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful there. Our suite overlooked it and had a great view of nice restaurants. The town hadn't changed much since the 80s, either. Houston also has more varied housing that are great bargains.

Stick with Houston. San Antonio may seem cool if you are 19, but once you actually live and work there you want to scream to get out and go somewhere else... even Austin.

    Houston.

Houston has great job market - being one of the energy capital of the world, high demand for medical field, many large financial companies have major branches in Houston.

Great diversity here to - much more international than San Antonio, which is primarily hispanic where Houston has everything from Asian to Hispanic to Middle eastern to Indian. I found people are friendlier in Houston as well. Great diverse food in Houston with better restaurant. Medical Center in Houston is world class - San Antonion is nice but still only developing.

As for nice place to live, both cities have great neighborhood, and cost of living are relatively cheap in both places. Houston also has better higher education than San Antonio.

I don't even have to think about it. San Antonio hands down. You could even live in one of the nice surburbs. San Antonio is beautiful and easy to get around. Houston is ugly and difficult to manuver. There is just no contest there. San Antonio is a hundred times better.

I love them both, and I live in Houston with family in San Antonio. Houston is great, but I have noticed that San Antonio embraces their culture more. Both cities have many fun things to do to. I really, really hate the traffic in Houston. It is ridiculous! I can't say how the day to day traffic in SA is though. Well I hope this random info helped a little.

For work I would say Houston and San Antonio but for fun and a better time go to San Antonio or Austin.

Houston is a city originally designed as a "working city" but it is boring and not that fun.

But I think San Antonio is better than Houston.

    Pick San Antonio.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the country, so if you want opportunities and diversity, this is the place to be. On the other hand, it is crowded as hell. Too many people, too much traffic. But there are a lot of fun things to do in Houston.

San Antonio is smaller and less crowded and geared toward tourism. There are probably fewer and less variety of opportunities, but you might find a more pleasant lifestyle there.

Houston has horrible mass transit, crowded streets, and lacks the design for pedestrians.

San Antonio is pedestrian friendly and less crowded.

My vote goes to San Antonio. Although Houston has its ups, San Antonio outweighs them.
