Don't know about the deer cycle in Georgia, but here in Michigan our bucks are still growing their antlers, this week the biggest buck Ive seen has 8 points and are about 9-12 inches on their main tines. three weeks ago they were about 6-8 inches. I don't usually see them shedding their velvet till fall, around late September and sometimes even into October.

If you are refering to South Georgia here in the United States, YES it's a bit early for Bucks to be in velvet . Most will be shedding their horns completely for the most part and the new ones are beginning to grow now...Come early fall they will been finished growing and covered in velvet. This process repeats itself year after year each time the Bucks horns will grow bigger size and mass

In Cartersville GA the bucks are growing antlers know. They won't rub off the Velvet until mid August to Mid September. If you are trying to kill one in velvet, you can get one in early bow season.

Is that South Georgia the island near the Falklands? Didn't know they had deer there. Or have you strayed onto the UK and Ireland site by mistake?
