Has anyone had any experience with vacume sealed tote bags?

Just saw an advertisment for storage bags for comforters, large stuffed animals, etc. When you put the items in the bag, you vacume out the air which reduces the size of the item to be stored. Curious if it really works as portrayed on TV ad.

These actually work really well. They make a lot of sense when you're storing things in a small space. (I live in an apartment and because of lack of storage space, I put my winter clothes away during the summer and vice versa. These work really well for that sort of thing.)

However, like the poster above said, they're only good for home use. When travelling they don't make much sense because you have to find a vaccuum in order to use them. You can buy special rolling ones from travel or outdoor stores that work really well. I've used them when travelling and will continue to do so. Definitely worth the investment.

The ones that use a vaccum cleaner are fine for storage, especially if you won't be opening and closing them frequently. They tend to become damaged with extensive use.

For traveling, I find the ones that you roll to expel the air work great.
