Just stopped birth control, could I be pregnant?

I took seasonique (seasonale) birth control for the past couple of years. I recently stopped using it, and now I feel like my body is going crazy! I have gone 5 weeks without a period (even though I use to have one every two weeks prior to taking birthcontrol). I have been having dizzy spells and mild stomach and back pain, but not much nausea. I'm also moody and very emotional. I took a Clear Blue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test (How accurate are those?) and it came back negative. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be too early to test? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm trying to avoid the doctors office until I have a better idea of what might be going on. I don't want to go too early and end up having to go again for the same thing.

Since you have been on Birth control so long, your body was used to it. Stopping the medication can cause all of those symptoms and more. However, so can being pregnant. And if you are off of Birth control, and not using any other form, and you are having intercourse, pregnancy is possible. The Clear Blue Easy Digital test just reads the lines for you. If you do not have enough pregnancy hormone in your system, the line comes out to light for it to read, thus causing a false negative. Those are better for a week after your first missed period. The tests where you can read the lines yourself, work best. Any line, no matter how faint it is, that appears within ten minutes is positive. Do not read the test after ten minutes though. Any lines that appear after that time can be evaporation lines.

If I were you, I would go to the doctor just to get checked out. If you are having problems due to hormone changes, the Doctor can help you with that, as well as determine if you are pregnant or not.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Could you be pregnant? If you've had sex without another method of birth control it's very possible. Some people talk about how long it takes after being on birth control to get pregnant, but I was on birth control non-stop for almost 10 years, first month I was off the pill I was pregnant. So pregnancy CAN happen.

That said, it doesn't mean you are. Your bosy DOES go crazy after birth control, so you're not just feeling like it is. Your hormones are all over the place, & missing periods for a couple months is normal. It can take around 3 months for your body to get back to semi-normal after being on birth control.

I'd personally give it a couple more weeks, test again, then contact your doctors office if you're still missing your period & testing negative. Explain whats going on, & see what their advice is. They may or may not want to give you a blood test just to rule out pregnancy.

It could very well be your hormones levelling out which can take up to 3 months.

I would purchase another pregnancy test (preferably an early pregnancy test) and take it with your first morning urine.

The only problem with digital pregnancy tests is that they can't detect the HCG in your system unless it's at or around a level of 50, which for some women isn't reached until 1-2 weeks after they would've normally had their period. Where as some other tests are more sensitive and can detect HCG at a level of 25.

You can research pregnancy tests and the level of HCG they detect when deciding which test to purchase.

By the way, having a period every 2 weeks isn't normal. If that does continue or in your case start again, you should consult your doctor regarding that.

well, you could be pregnant.. i got pregnant with my first when i had ran out of bc pill and hadto go without them for 3 days! so, even skippin a few days really does leave you at risk for pregnancy.. the pregnancy test?? it depends on how long ago you came off the pill... the at home test can usually predict pregnancy 3 weeks after conception. the new tchnology and all......so, if youre still unsure, i would wait a couple weeks and if you still feel funny, and havnt had a period, take another test.

your body could just be trying to readjust after taking BC for so long...i would see a doctor since you have already technically missed a period. Did you ask your doctor what side affects may occur after stopping the BC? They might be able to tell you over the phone if you call.

    Good luck!

No, you are probably not pregnant. It takes a long time to get the hormones regulated after being on bc for that long. I wouldn't worry about it, you will get your period soon. In the mean while enjoy it while its gone! I know I don't miss my period!
