Is a flea/farmer's market a good place to start a business?
Is it a good place to get started and later to branch out? Has anyone had experience in this?
I hadn't really thought about it before, but recently when at a local farmer's market I realized that everyone in there is an entrepreneur. So it got me thinking that it might work for me to get started with far less investment and to save some money to expand.
So I'm curious about this. Is it a good place to start up?
Thanks in advance.

The best way to find out is to try!! However, you need to take into consideration how active your flea/farmer's market is. The one near me is constantly crowded!! So, ideally I would say YES it's a great idea. But if yours doesn't get much business then I wouldn't recommend it. GOOD LUCK :)

It can be; business is all about overhead; are you making more than you are paying out? Is this enough to maintain your lifestyle? Every flea market is different. Some places don't charge so much for you to run a booth but this is b/c that location doesn't see as much foot traffic. Generally the more people that are walking by your booth, the more the landlord is going to charge you rental on your booth. All of that is part of being a businessman.

I think it's definitely a way to test the waters. I did some of that on the weekends while in the army.
