Okay am I the only one who is sick of John Edwards?
This pompous, rich, $500 haircut, moron actually is starting to campaign against poverty... Quote the hypocrite "A huge portion of the people who live in poverty in this country work every day, work all the time"... The other portion must be out getting $500 haircuts and exploiting their families.
Am I the only one who is sick of liberals and their twisted thought patterns?

Do you have a problem with Bill Gates and Warren Buffet also? These two are among the richest people in the world, and have dedicated themselves to fighting poverty and disease in the world.
Is Edwards for real? Does he really care? I'd like to think so, but I don't know. But why are you so disgusted by his efforts, but not by Bush's almost complete lack of compassion for people affected by Hurricane Katrina? Why hasn't Bush given more money to faith-based organizations dedicated to helping the needy?
I'm sick of angry conservatives doing nothing for their fellow man more than "liberals with twisted thought patterns."

But I suppose that when laura bush got a TAXPAYER PAID FOR $750 hairdo that was all right because they are republicans and they dont care about the poor.
We know how the republican party was dragged kicking and screaming into raiseing the minimum wage !! as if people can live on $5.15 per hour !!
Hypocrisy----YOU BET we see it daily in the way republicans don't bat an eye at Corporate welfare, but give a hand to the poor, or champion thier cause and all of a sudden, spending your own money on what you desire becomes BAD ???

Well heck, the Democrats declared WAR on poverty 40 years ago, and I see no exit strategy in sight.
I'm also sick of people complaining about people having to live off of minimum wage jobs. Minimum Wage is for people entering the work-force with no job skills! For that matter, the majority of people working for minimum wage are living at home with their parents. If you're a grown-up and have no job skills, it is because you probably squandered your free high school education. And don't give me this garbage that you couldn't finish high school, because you can still take a GED exam to earn a diploma while still working.
I understand the reality that there are poor people who have to work three jobs, but there is PLENTY, and I mean PLENTY of help out there for them, if they want it. It is also available for free or very minimal expense to them, and the government is not hiding the information from them. The problem is that people make bad choices until you give them no option but to do for themselves. I believe the very best thing we can do for poor people is to cut them off of the government assistance and encourage them to fend for themselves. They really can take care of themselves if you give them no other choice.

Why is it hypocritical for a rich man to speak against poverty? Also, in what ways is John Edwards "pompous"? From what I have seen he has been consistently down to earth.
You whine about a 500 dollar haircut, yet you make no mention of the several thousand dollar suits Rudy Guliani wears on his campaign. Why is that?

I don't envy his money.
And the fact that he's rich doesn't mean he's not allowed to try to do something about poverty.
But the experience of the last century has shown that the dollar you take from people to funnel through a bureaucracy and give 25 cents to some poor person does more to solve poverty when you leave it in the economy to reinvest, thereby creating jobs.
It's Edwards' failure to understand this - or his hope that you will fail to understand this - that bothers me.

100's of social programs from Ted "Bloated One" Kennedy and we still have poverty?
Democrats create poverty to ensure their own survival as the party that will save those that are too lazy to save themselves.
