Hi,
this question comes up multiple times daily. If you do a search here on answers you will see other answers to this question. I answer this question a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers, I have created a 28-page ebooklet that answers pretty thoroughly your question.
Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.
The second resource you might want to have a look at is this page: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_a... . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time.
Hope this helps!

Never give up on your dream. Just boost it along with other things. "Smart" has nothing on heart and dedication. Do you have a community college near you? Some offer arts classes over the summer. I live near the Totem Ploe Playhouse, and if you have something similar near you, get in contact and ask aobut summer apprentice programs. Some can offer you more on-stage experience, while others give you behind the scenes education that will get you further in your carreer. Writing classes at a community college can usually be transferred to any school you decide on later.
As far as the writing, put your ideas on paper the best you can now. As you get more expereince, you can improve and revise them. You can also find a mentor to assist you in your growth. Don't be afraid to go out and ask writers that you admire for advice. Some are bound to be willing to give you a few pointers, and don't be discouraged if a few are less helpful. Not all will be that way.
Good luck, and DON'T give up. Just remember me when you is rich and famous! ;-)

If you really want my advice, I shall give it: after high-school go to college, to a university with a national name as THE institution at which to study acting and creative writing. If you question your writing skills, center on acting. Focus, do not scatter your energies. Do you live in the States? If it's the screen that interests you most, consider a college or university in southern California. Do not, DO NOT, show up in LA with no education, no contacts, no track record as an actor, and say, Hey, look at me, here I am! Ahead of you and behind you are ten thousand people you age, much like you. Feel good about yourself, your talents...good enough to train, to learn more and more, connect now with an amateur theatre company in your hometown, read every movie script you can put your hands on (check the Internet, the woods are full of 'em), see every movie you can from the b&w silents down to today, learn the stuff behind the screen--it's changing tremendously in the wake of technologies, exersise, eat right, get enough sleep, get your social skills down pat, learn how to say NO to the con men and porno thugs and exploitationists on the Coast. Do more than dream...prepare, prepare, prepare. Kids hit LA every day, and within two weeks, three weeks, out of bucks and hunger, they become parking lot attentions, etc., and then return home defeated. Don't do this to yourself. You've got a heck of good brain...use every bit of it now at 16. Every bit! Good luck, lad.

You would need to google "Homeschool groups <your area>" and first just try to find a generic homeschool group. Once you find a group, you can ask around and see what other homeschoolers may be able to point out. You don't need a group specific to athletics though. If you just join a regular homeschool group, you're sure to find other homeschoolers who are also serious about athletics. You might even find a group that has a special interest group relating to it. You can also meet other athletes in community sports programs, at the gym, etc. Just get out and about.

16 is a great age to start making plans for your future, its a good thing that at 16 you know what you want, some people reach 30 not knowing what they want to become.its ok if you are not that good with writing, you have a lot of years ahead of you to improve.and if acting is what you really want just go and follow your dreams.dreams give you direction.you get to set goals and you concentrate your efforts on something worthwhile.dont just dream,go for it! good luck!
