Ricardo Mayorga vs. Fernando Vargas?

Answer this, why in the world is this fight on PPV?? Is there that many people interested in watching these two fight? Vargas is done, he's fat and out of shape, and I don't see anything exciting coming from him. Mayorga likes to talk his trash and he is a pretty scrappy guy which at least adds some interest on his part, but come on, what is the appeal of this fight in the first place? Much less enough appeal to warrant it being on PPV!

As far as the entire body of career work , Vargas has a much better resume, and is a much better boxer.

But part of boxing is fighting , so the edge in this fight has to go to a tougher, stronger no holds barred style of fighter, I beleive that fighter is Mayorga.

Vargas has been fighting with some serious back injury problems this certainly won't help his cause.

In his prime Vargas would have Murdered Mayorga!

At present Vargas is the more washed up of the two.

Mayorga is just too strong and crazy for Vargas at this point.

And I really don't care anyway- but I love boxing, and it does have some level interest.

Vargas is going to win this fight because he has way more technical skill than Mayorga. Delahoya and Trinidad murdered Ricardo because of there simple boxing skills like throwing short punches and blocking and of course not getting intimidated. Vargas should have no problem winning this fight unless he gets too macho and wants to go blow for blow with Ricardo, if that happens than I think Ricardo wins this fight by knockout, but I don't think it will. I have to say Mayorga is one of my favorite fighters, if he were to just use the jab and block punches he would be a much better fighter, I hope he knocks out Vargas but I don't think he will..

Vargas will catch Mayorga with great punches, many times. Mayorga is not a boxer, he just swings for the fences and hopes he hits something. De La Hoya punished his chain smoking A$$. As long as Vargas stays composed, he will beat Mayorga senseless. He already got a hold of him at the press conference. I wil lsay this, if Vargas tries to slug it out, he may get caught one too many times. I know he can take a punch, but Mayorga throws bombs, that is Mayorga's only chance...Luck, that is it.

It was reported that Vargas was walking around at over 220 lbs. It' s a pointless fight either fighter is not going anywhere. But if I had too choose, I'd pick Mayorga he is the better trash talker.

Vargas is washed up and is in simple terms chasing paychecks at this component. Mayorga nevertheless has a draw because of the fact of his recklessness. i think of Mayorga wins by making use of KO. i might pay to be certain that combat.

I really don't care bout this fight...i would of liked it better with both of them in their prime...Vargas is completely shot and mayorga can't box worth crap...He just throws wild haymakers like miranda....and look what pavlik did to his @$$....vargas will destroy mayorga i think vargas shouldn't be the only one retiring after this fight....Mayorga would get hurt by all the top welterweights....mayweather, mosley, cotto, clottey, williams, cintron.... He doesn't stand a chance against any of them....

i would like to see Fernando Vargas win but he hasn't shown anything in his last few fights. i don't like mayorga and i want to see him get ko'd again like when he fought Trinidad. aether way this fight means a lot to both fighters because it a make or break fight for both of them.

I think that Vargas is passed his short-lived prime, but he still has enough left to take out this third worlder. Vargas will never beat the likes of DeLahoya or Mayweather Jr., but again he does have it in him to take out Mr. Black Lung.

Vargas was fat in the movie Alpha Dog...there is no way he can get down to 162!
