    (a) You have three slots, and four choices for each slot. Therefore, there are 4 * 4 * 4 = 64 possible three digit numbers.

    b) what? You mean the one's and ten's digit must be the same? In that case, you have four options for the one's digit, only one option for the ten's digit, and then again 4 options for the hundred's digit, which makes 4 * 1 * 4 = 16 possible three digit numbers in this case.

    c) You have 4 choices for the first slot, then 3 for the second (since no repetition is allowed) then 2 for the third slot. Therefore, there are 4 * 3 * 2 = 24 possible three digit numbers in this case.

    a. 4 x 4 x 4 = 64. You have four choices for each digit.

    b. You aren't explaining what you mean. All three-digit numbers have a ones and a tens digit, so it's the same answer: 64.

    c. 4 x 3 x 2 = 24. You have four choices for the first digit, three for the second (you can't repeat the first digit), and two choices for the last digit (you can't repeat the first two digits).

    a. each digit of the 3 digit # has 4 different options: 2, 3, 4 or 5. So our total number of combinations = 4*4*4 = 64.

    b. i don't understand this one, are 0s allowed?

c.the first digit has 4 options, but since repeated digits aren't allowed the 2nd digit has only 3 options and the 3rd digit has 2 options. So our total number of combinations = 4*3*2 = 24.

for forming a 3 digit no. using 5 digits i.e. 0,1,2,3,4 we can say hundreds place can be filled by 4 digits that is 1,2,3,4 tens place can be filled by 4 digits that is 0 and the rest of the three digits not used in the hundreds place and the unit place can be filled by 3 digits hence no.of 3 digits formed is 4x4x3=48

    a)256

b)what does that mean? how do you have a 3 digit number without the ones and tens

    a. 4^3 = 64, because in each position you can pick any of the four digits.

    b. 4, because only in one position you can pick any of the four digits

    c. 4*3*2 = 24, because in the first position, you can pick any of the four digits, but in the second position, you can only pick 3 remaining digits etc..

    a) 4 * 4 * 4 = 64

    b) 4 * 1 * 1 = 4 (you mean 'three', not 'there' right?)

    c) 4 * 3 * 2 = 24
