What are the rules for custody of a child?
I heard that once you are certain age you can decide who you want to live with (one of your parents). What is that age... like 15 or 16?

It depends on the state. Typically, around 13 judges start to "consider" the wishes of the child
The judge CAN override your decision, but, will rarely do so (unless one parent is dangerous or criminal)

Obviously you want to go and live with your other parent.
Go and see your school councillor and they should be able to find out all the information you are looking for.
Sometimes, if your parents have already been to court, you will have to go before a judge and explain why you want to change parents.
If its for a pathetic reason like not getting your own way, the judge is NOT going to give the go ahead.

It depends on your state, but in some states as soon as the child can clearly say which parent he/she wants to live with that's it. Some it's 10, 11, 12...

You will need a very good reason. Talk it over with the other parent..
