What are the Section 8 Utility Allowances in Michigan?

I am trying to get on Section 8, but would like to find out what allowances can be deducted from my gross income. Because I am disabled, I believe I can take off $400 but I don't know if that is from monthly gross or yearly gross. Also, would like to know what medical expenses might be deductible. I have tried many online searches but no such luck.

I was not able to find a website for you, however here are some standard deductions. First they will take your total monthly income, earned and unearned.Example if you work your salary, and any child support, SSI, etc. They will then deduct any expenses. If you pay a portion of your healthcare costs, & any healthcare costs not covered by your insurance. They will also deduct for childcare expenses if you have them.In some places other expenses such as car insurance and payments are deductible, as well as your cell phone. The utility allowance generally depends on the type of unit you are renting. For a single family unit (house) the allowance will be higher than for an apartment or townhome. It will also vary depending on what utilities are included in your rent. I would check the hud.gov website. It may be able to give you some more region specific information.hope this helps.
