I was moved up to an administrative assistant. Now i am using my car to go everywhere??
The lady i work with doesnt drive, we have no company car. I dont mind running quick errands. But i DO mind when my car is being used as the main source of transportation. I bought a car with 7000 miles and after one month i have 9500. I dont know what to say to her. We basically use the car to go to meetings and such but some are quite a ways away and im racking up over 100 miles a day. What can i say? I just want to lie and say something about my insurance or something. like, oh because of lower rates i chose an insurance company that wont allow me to go over blah blah blah miles a year. which i KNOW there are some like that. Can they fire me or somethng? I didnt sign up for transportation when i took this job.
They are giving me .48 cents per mile.

If you are using your vehicle for work you should get mileage. Wear and tear ain't cheap.

$.48 a mile should cover your expenses. Also, you can take anything over that as a deduction on your taxes.
However, you may want to explain that you are running up a lot of miles on your car, and you have an insurance issue. Ask that someone please drive, or suggest that you take turns with someone. If the company is of any size at all, they should be able to lease a car without suffering too much financial hardship. At least if they do, it will relieve you of having to drive everyone.
Good luck.

does this company insure your vehicle? If not, you better look at your policy and see whether you are covered to drive for work reasons. Most probably, if you get into an accident, there will be real trouble if your not covered to use your vehicle for work purposes. As for having to use your car, tell the company they have to provide you a vehicle to get from place to place because your car isn't for hire anymore, especially for a lousy .48. You getting ripped off.

Can't you claim milage for business on your taxes as a company car, and ask the company to pay for a different Insurance.
