How Can I Find Out The Age Of My Red-Eared Slider Turtle?

If it helps, his shell's width is 4 inches and it's length is 4.5 inches.

    in general, its about 1 inch to a year. in general. i have a store bought RES that i've had for almost 5 years and he's about 7x9, i'd put a guess at 8 years old, i also have 2 "toddlers", i got them 3 yrs ago, they started out as "quarters" and are now about 3x4.

    i'd guess yours is about 4 or 5 yrs old.

    You can usually count on these little guys for at least 40 years. I've heard reports of some who lived into their sixties. My oldest is presently 36.

    I don't know how you guess a turtles age but yours is a little bigger than ours and he is over 4 years.
