According to one benchmarking site.
Intel Core2 Duo T7300 @ 2.00 GHz has a score of 1119
Where as a Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.00 GHz which I believe is a HT technology has a score of 474
You almost need to ignore the GHz reading on the new chips because the archetecture of the chip is so different that they perform MUCH faster with lower GHz. The HT (Hyper Threading technology) is a way to simulate two processors, by running two threads simulatiously, but it's only gaining about 30% over a non-HT technology. Where as a Duo chip is truely two individual processors.
Wikipedia has a good article on hyper threading if you want more detail.

Actuallly ur pal isn't precisely incorrect i study it in a piece of writing that too plenty processor % isn't precisely needed or constructive an INTEL 2.4 GHZ center 2duo is extremely sturdy the fact that the difficulty is ur widespread reminiscence may be the single which is bigger ie the RAM goin for a 3GB or 4GB RAM critically will enhance the overall performance of ur laptop finished of a 2.4 Ghz center 2 Duo.

A Duo core would be faster. A dual-core CPU combines two independent processors and their respective caches and cache controllers onto a single silicon chip, or integrated circuit. In layman's terms this would be like having a two-lane highway; two streams of data can move at 2.0 GHZ.
