Those pictures or statues of Jesus on the cross, clothes ripped, almost naked, bleeding, .......?

....and with the look of the rapture on his face...do they turn anyone else on?

He did't look human on the cross, & wasn't desirable to look upon. Isaiah 53. And He was naked. He was bruised for our iniquities & He bore our transgressions. And by His stripes we are healed.

Actually, guys, I see no reason that Protestant Christians or any Christians who associate with a different denomination of Christianity shouldn't have statues of the Christ. The only thing we would have to be careful of in such a situation would be idolatry, making sure we don't convince ourselves that the statue itself has some sort of power of salvation. The statue itself wouldn't be a problem, though-- in fact, I would say it would be a good reminder of Jesus' saving actions. Yes, I do think it's quite humiliating. I think that it's quite possibly the most horrible thing that could possibly happen to anybody, much less the Son of God. I think that a death upon the cross is terrifying, painful, and nigh unendurable. It's for exactly that reason that I praise Him even more--He took the wrath that was reserved for me upon the cross, and now I live in the shadow of His grace. So yes, it's humiliating, but for good reason: Jesus humbled Himself, despite the fact that He was so much greater and purer than me, to take from me the judgment that was reserved.

Oh wow, that is just sick.

Remember, the Lord Jesus died for your sins. He loves you, even if you reject Him. You can find joy in the Lord not because of the images of pain but because He can give to you everlasting life. I suggest you do some praying.

    It is intentional.

There is a strong sexual/sensual component to ANY strong faith. If it becomes to overt though, it grosses people out.

Think about sex in advertising. A scantily clad woman on a car is HHhhot! A naked woman on a car is crude.

You are walking on very thin ice here.

I guess you need to watch Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ.

You will get answer to your question and it may also help your soul.
