    x-(5-3x)=7x+4

    x-5+3x=7x+4

    x-5=4x+4

    -5=3x+4

    -9=3x

    -3=x

    I don't know it off the top of my head, but I can find it...

    x - (5 - 3x) = 7x + 4

    Since we can add the same thing to both sides of the equation and it will stay the same, let's add (5 - 3x) to both sides, shall we?

    x - (5 - 3x) + (5 - 3x) = 7x + 4 + (5 - 3x)

    And since adding cancels out subtracting (1 -C +C = 1), we have...

    x = 7x + 4 + (5 - 3x)

    Now, we just simplify the other half, since when you add a polynomial that's inside parenthesis, (like 5-3x) the signs stay the same .

    x = 7x + 4 + 5 - 3x

    x = 4x + 9

    x - x = 4x - x + 9

    0 = 3x + 9

    0-9 = 3x + 9 - 9

    -9 = 3x

    -9/3 = 3x/3

    -3 = x

    x - (5-3x) = 7x + 4

    x -5 +3x = 7x + 4

    4x - 5 = 7x + 4

    - 9 = 3x

    - 3 = x
