which camera will give me the most bang for my buck?

I'm wanting to buy a new digital camera for personal use. I don't know if I was 7.1 mg pixel or 8.1 mg pixel, etc. What #'s do I want on optimal zoom, etc. What is the most camera I can get for the cheapest price?

I used to manage a camera store and it depends on you!! First do you really need a camera that has 7 or 8 pixels it might be overkill for you. The higher the pixel the bigger the picture you can get. It does not mean that your picture is going to come out clear that is put on you and whether you are focusing before you take your shot. 7 or 8 pixels will get you pictures bigger than a 24x36 poster. R u going to get them that big? Never buy a camera if its just has a digital zoom,YOU WANT OPTICAL ZOOM!! that will give you the best picture quality. If you want a basic great camera that is easy to use then i recommend a nikon. Nikon and Canon are number 1 in the world for cameras.Stay away from off brand cameras like concord or digtal concepts they dont have history and are trying to make a buck . You can find a nikon for about 100-180 dollars that will do you wonders for you Rememeber you pay for what you get!!! Never go cheap cheap when it comes to electronics just save up and be happy!! I love my nikon!!

Samsung & Pentax are the comparable digicam, comparable build and with the correct firmware uprade precisely the comparable function (slightly different menus yet thats it) the two cameras characteristic the optimum high quality shade sampling of any commercially accessible DSLR. while you're commencing from scratch and don't have a legacy of lenses to think of approximately then i could flow with the samsung, you get some great twin lens deals (greater competitively priced than the pentax physique on my own) and in case you do prefer greater speicalist lenses interior the destiny there are particularly some pentax ok. KA and KAF lenses accessible at greater suited fees than used nikons etc. i'm sticking with action picture for now, yet when I have been to digital then the samsung could be my selection. in case you do have a legacy of lenses then that stands out as the detrmining element.

It's not such important to have 7MP or 8MP sensors. Look at Canon PowerShot A550 etc. or A630. I'm using Canon A630 as my second cam (first is the SONY A100) and I can't say anything bad about this Compact. In the other hand the Nikon L12 is a good purchase.

I got a fuji FinePix S700 from circuit city for $207 and it is an awesome camera. Takes great close-ups and, has macro and super macro. It also takes awesome distant shots with 10x optical zoom which is a lot more than most cameras. 7.1MP which is more than enough. Its has a lot of manual settings if you want to get fancy but is a great point and shoot camera.

Make sure you get one with Digital and Optical Zoom. The Kodak Easyshares are good cameras.

you want 3x optical and 2 x digital, with more optical zoom you get more of your photo, so lets say you take a pic of a car you'll get the pic of the whole car, i suggest the 7.2 casio dig camera, it is great , i love it.
