Does " As Salaam Alaikum " mean the same as " Peace be with you " ?
The Bible Luke 24:36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them,
" Peace be with you."
The Bible John 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, " Peace be with you ! "
The Bible John 20:21 Again Jesus said,
" Peace be with you ! "As the Father has sent me,I am sending you."
The Bible John 20:26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
" Peace be with you ! "
Seems Yashua ( Isa / Jesus) said that often. When he spoke such, it probably sounded closer to " As Salaam Alaikum " then it did to the English " Peace be with you ", as Jesus was not a European in the classical usage of the word.
As Salaam Alaikum, Shalom Alayka, Peace be with you.

The Jews say the same thing.
Shabbat Shalom. Hebrew. Literally, Sabbath peace or peaceful Sabbath

It actually means "Peace be upon you", but the message is the same.
