Barry Gordy, Tom Sizemore, John Lee Hooker, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Ted Nugent, Marvin Gaye, Kiss, David Allen Grier, Alice Cooper, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, White Stripes, D12, Obie Trice, Esham, Madonna, Aaliyah, Bo Schembekler, Charles Lindenbergh, Casey Kasem, Joe Louis, Francis Ford Coppola, Tommy the Hitman Hearns, Chris Webber, David Legwand, Braylon Edwards, Jerome Bettis, Shane Battier.

The question was for Metro Detroit so it includes suburbs such as Warren, so we can include Marshall Mathers.

Less Jiggy's answer all of those here are good but lets add a few...

    KEM

    Brian O Neal

    Tim Allen

--there are so many and I love them all for their positivity about the area--

Even when they have problems in their personal life they still show the human side of people and that makes them all loved.

I love hometown celebrities-the only one who denounces the city is Diana Ross but I love her too. NY gets the free concerts from her but her home is always here and maybe one day her heart will be back too

    IMO

When I was in Detroit, I saw Tom Selleck driving around one day. I understand he was there quite often. This was about 1984.
