Basically we burn wood in our fireplace...from about noon 'till bedtime, It heats the family room and kitchen area and we live in that area...we don't heat the bedrooms, just pile on the blankets. We do have natural gas furnace,,use it to take the chill off in the mornings.

We live almost in the woods and cut and split the wood ourselves...there are always dead trees to be had.

MY HUSBAND'S BODY! (that's not an option for others :) )

Believe it or not, we turn the heat down to 64* and snuggle together under a feather comforter. That is the only way to go. We sleep so well like that and enjoy lower heating bills.

The kids seem to enjoy the colder weather with the heat turned down as long as they have their down comforters on the beds.

Keeping the temp down also reduces germs and colds.
