Buy entire car at a salvage yard?
I know you can buy parts off a car (or what's left of it) at a salvage yard, but can you buy the entire thing? Say, if the body was in decent shape and you wanted to repair it? And, how much could this cost?

No. No. No. You guys are getting it all wrong. LOL Salvage yards will sometimes sell whole cars. They may charge you part for part, depending on what it is, but they will sell. Not the point. The point is, don't go to a salvage yard to buy a fixer-upper, or a parts car. Go to the TOW-YARD. Tow truck companies will wheel and deal like you can't believe.
Word on registration for cars aquired like this. Once a tow yard impounds a car, the title is destroyed. It's different in almost every state, but you will have to have a title reconstructed. Sometimes a pain so great it makes it not worth it.

You can probably buy an entire car but you need to consider the fact that there will probably be no title for the car and that it is a tough process to get a title for such a vehicle even if you completely reconstruct the entire car. It's not impossible just tough. Also the value of cars with a reconstructed or rebuilt title is generally half their normal value even if the repair work is of superb quality.

Also depends on where you are. Some states make it impossible to re-register a vehicle once it's been deemed salvage.

They may sell it to you, but typically they will make more money off of the parts. Go to the yard owner and talk to them. They will tell you if they will sell it to you or not.
Good luck!
