Terrorism against the US: Real threat or conservative propaganda?

Oh the threat is real that is obvious by 9/11 and the other plots that have been uncovered. Look at what they are doing to England, you know they would not weight for one minute if they could find away to get in and hit us again. Everyone uses 9/11 as a reference point but there have been other attempts like the 1st one on the world trade center. There have been other attempts since 9/11. So yes I feel that the threat is real and poses a real danger to this nation.

Well, let's see. I take it that, and I mean this as an observation only, you may didn't have anyone close to you die in 9/11. I'm just guessing.

Anyway, This could sound really horrible, but relative to what goes on in the Middle East, 9/11 was like a boo-boo.

And it hurt horribly, I know, no offense to the victims!!!

So, here we are, Americans, so senistive about everything, whether rightly or wrongly.

We live in this world where one slap to a child is abuse.

I'm just adding that to the comments: yes, it's hurtful, it's evil, it's awful, but it may not have been a reason for years and years of war that inflates the price of the product owned by our own Leader.

There again, there have been numerous plots worldwide, and since I believe in prevention, hmmm... I'd be against myself if I said I knew for sure that it's a waste.

It had never been a threat rather it became threat after america's false propaganda. Here a question also arises that if it was not a threat, then why it became so generally accepted phenomena as a "threat?" Simply, because "Might is Right" America being a superpower, can impose easily what it wants to but america is making its generation "hateable" by itself & soon will bear the brunt of this propaganda & war.

A little of both, I think, Bill. Certainly there is a threat - 9/11 showed that, but politicians are very much aware that if you frighten the public, they will move closer to you. We've seen that sort of scaremongering here in Australia the last election, and the bastard is at it again now, when the next election is only a couple of months away.

there is definitely real threat against western countries especially US. However, the right-winger surely has exaggerated the impact. I dun think the terrorist has the ability to execute another large scale attack like 911 within US territory in the short future.

It is a Real Threat with no end in sight. Just look at the face of the Secretary of Homeland Security -

Radical Islam has made it clear that it wants to destroy the US and it's Western allies. It conducted an attack on Sept 11th 2001, killing 3000 people in one day. Do you think they're serious? Or was that just propaganda? Wake up.

I predict we will see another major attack within the next couple of years or a huge sting that prevents it.

Yes, the threat is real. Wake up everyone, read, listen, investigate.

It is probably a real threat, but not just against the U.S.

We are being manipulated and I would not put it past our government to stage or allow a terrorist attack in order to try to keep repub in power. I wouldn't have said that a year ago - but the evil that has come to light shows there is nothing they won't do. It's scary - we used to be a country that you could be proud of - now I am ashamed of what we have become. And I know all you ignorant bible beating right wingers will leave your larry the cable guy concert and come home to your trailer - then will log on to YA and see this and want to say "GET OUT THEN" - but if you search your small brain - you will see the truth.
