What do Polish people use to clean with? Their houses smell wonderful.?

I grew up in Hamtramck (Pole town) near Detroit. My polish friend's Moms and Grandmas had the best smelling homes. Did they use some cleaner that is different? I live in the south now and would love to know the secret.

Update:

No punch line. I am married to a guy with polish ancestry. No jokes here.

Anyway, this was a long time ago in the late 60's maybe things have changed. I have wondered if it was smells from their different cooking? Kielbasa...Yum! But I make that sometimes and my house doesn't have that clean smell like theirs did......

I am polish, and my grandma grew up in Hamtramck. It may not be so much of what is used to clean, but the aroma of foods that are cooked.

Lestoil was a favorite cleaner, or Mr. Clean or, S-p-i-c and Span.

Stop in at Meijer's and smell the cleaning isle.

Most older homes had wooden floors, which they used to polish, and wooden polish lasts for a long time, and I think most women these days spend more time shopping(no offense) or working, where other women prefer to polish their tiles or floors, or wash their carpet. I bought these things you plug in and they just don't work. This pot with the Christal on top, and the candle at the bottom, works best for me, but still it doesn't come close to my grandma's house...

    You should ask your friend.

I'm part Polish and trust me, we don't all clean our houses with the same cleaner. My grandmother was full-blooded Polish and her house never smelled special and my cousin's grandmother was full-blooded Polish and her house was just one big mess all the time (she didn't clean house evidently).
