Cleaning a plastic jug?
I have a gallon-size plastic jug...for Kool-aid, water, etc and the mouth is narrow enough I can't fit my hand down in it. There are some stains inside I'd like to get cleaned but nothing's worked well enough to do the job. Anyone have any suggestions?

Let some hot soapy bleach water soak in it....:) Be sure to rinse well.
Also you could try using a baby bottle brush to reach inside.

Put about a cup of uncooked rice and some dish soap in the jug. Fill one quarter of jug with water, cap it and shake. Empty the rice and water out. That should do it. The rice acts as an abrasive. Good luck.

Good old Baking Soda should do the trick. I would put a whole box in, since it is inexpensive with a little water, shake it well, then let it sit overnight. Shake again the next morning, then rinse and the stains should be gone.

if this is an old milk or juice jug and has been used more than 10 times get a new one, the materials in the jug will begin to breakdown and become somewhat poisonous

You can get stuff for cleaning wine making equipment called stericlean I think its used for cleaning narrow necked demi johns and stuff, and works well getting stains off and stuff, or you could try baby bottle sterilizing liquid. OR you could use steradent tablets (for false teeth) and put some grains of rice or dried beans or something in and shake it about to act as abrasive.

Try some bleach and water mixture and if that doesn't work try a bottle cleaner from a baby department.

try a mixture of bicarb soda and lemon juice... pour the bicarb on the area you want to clean and then squeeze the lemon on to it... let it sit until it stops foaming and then use a flexible bottle brush to work the stain. obviously you will need to rise well.
