In re: to having the opportunity to succeed do you believe certain cities or states treat Hispanics better?

Living in South Florida I know many successful college educated hispanics from all over Latin America. Although, I don't know anyone that's here illegally (don't know if they were at some point) everyone knows there are illegals here. Why is it that where I live so many immigrants eventually attain the American dream or their children do but in places like California and Texas it's so hard for them to leave poverty. Is it because we have a healthy mix of hispanics with many different backgrounds and those states don't? Is it because the hispanics here are politically involved and vote? Do hispanics in Florida want other hispanics to succeed in the US so they help them more? Why is it certain hispanics stand out here as successful but in other states you only hear negativity?

The negativity is against the Illegal immigrants....not against Hispanics in general...but it is "rubbing off" on the legal ones because people are just so upset that our government is not following our laws.

In California, there are huge groups of hispanics proclaiming they are taking back America...they are not for our country....they want to change ours into another Mexico...and they proclaim it everywhere. Do you think that make friends out of them?

Many legal hispanics are just as angry at them...they had to get there the hard way!

The more that come into your state, the more they take over everything....you can't get a job unless you speak Spanish...someone ought to challenge that in court!

You can't understand people waiting on you....you have to "choose English" to talk on the phone....you pay for everything to be translated for people who broke our laws to get here, you pay for their children to be educated....to have medical care....while our costs go up, and our citizens can't get help when they need it. The more you have in your state....the more you have problems. Try California if you don't believe me. It is a mess!...and why we moved after living there all our lives!

I agree that more hispanics need to be politically involved. I beleive that all people who enter our nation should be helped to succeed. Success only breeds more success. I think your question envokes true thought not like some on this forum to envoke racism. I would challenge any one who is a racist to learn to love and change. But I doubt that they have the capacity to have love. I want all my neighboors to succeed I am a hispanic living in a predominately black neighboorhood. When I first moved here many wondered why would this person move to this impoverished drug riden area. When they realized that I was here to help and change my neighboorhood they welcomed me and now my good neighboors are happy they have a new advocate which has not been jaded by police inaction or political neglect. So in saying more people not just hispanics need to use thier voice to speak up against poverty. I do my part and found that when one has the empitus to change s/he can start a fire in others to want to be a part of the change.

immigrants from all ethnicity's including, Latinos and Hispanics, have a better chance of obtaining a college education if they were educated in their native countries up until high school, and money to received and education, and come from families with parents are college graduates.

in Florida many "Hispanics" are well educated because many of the Cubans that come to America are well educated as opposed to most of the immigrants that come from Mexico have very little education.... thus they migrate to America for a better life!!!!!
