Immigrating to canada from the US?

I was thinking of trying to look for work in Canada, but I don't have a visa.

I can score a 67 on the immigration chart (4 year degree, 7 years experience in my field, fluent in English)

However waiting for 12-24 months isn't really an option.

Could a potential employer expedite the process, or could you apply for a short-term visa, while your permanent one is being processed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have an employer sponsor your visa application, you will be here in 2 weeks.

Now, start looking on Workopolis.com or Monster.ca for a job

Canada Immigration answers to no one. Your best bet if you don't have a sponsor is to apply for a work permit thru the government. Apply for your US passport in Toronto at US Embassy & you'll have it in a 9 days. Avoid lawyers, they will just rip you off on immigration http://cic.gc.ca/ or 1-888-242-2100 is Immigration call center.
