Who do you think is going to be the next president of the U.S ?

If it's Hilary, I'm leaving.

Rudy! Ha. I'm actually not a Rudy fan, but the evidence seems overwhelming to me. Here's why.

The Democrats are really aming to grab the White House in 08, and it looks like they have a great shot, but it's a very similar situation as 04. The only advantage is that they don't have Bush to hate on anymore. The truth is that either Obama or Clinton will get the dems nod, and either Rudy or Romney will get the Repub nod, so lets break it down.

If Obama wins the nomination, we can rule out him picking Hillary as his running mate (as vice-a-versa). They are too similar and their drawbacks too evident to work together. It would seem too fake and I believe there is a little bit of real tension between camps for it to work out.

On the other side of the aisle, I believe no matter who wins the Repub nomination (Rudy or Romney) they will both be on the ticket. They both balance out each others weaknesses. Romney isn't tested on national security and Rudy's weak on the social issues. Not to mention they both can smile pretty well. While I think the nation would be hesitant to elect a morman, they'd have no problem electing an italian-american (even though he'd be the first!). With Romney as VP, they will look past it. Even though Romney leads Iowa and New Hampshire polls, he may be the first candidate to win both early primaries and lose the nomination. Rudy has too much strength in the February 5th states, he'll take them and pull the rug out on Romney.

Rudy has the ability of being "America's Mayor" and he has pull in states that aren't even heavily Republican, he will definitely pull some swing states his way, and that is why I think he'll ultimately win the presidency. Hillary Clinton is too much of a polarizing figure, and people don't trust Obama yet.

Let's add another twist. Lets say that Edwards win the Dem's nomination, I STILL don't think obama or clinton will jump on the ticket, despite the fact that they might be asked. Why? Edwards is a loser! Seriously! He lost in 2004 as the VP nomination and that's bad luck. No one is going to jump on that ticket who seriously wants to be president. But the only way he'll win the nomination is if he picks up MAJOR momemtum in Iowa (which he is leading).

So all in all. Rudy wins.

Why?

Because he knows what he's doing by staying out of the crap slinging competition that goes on early in the primaries (like the exchanges you see Clinton throwing at anyone she feels threatened by), and waiting to enter. He's already VERY popular and hasn't even announced yet.

He's also fiscally conservative. Even if a lot of people daydream about having a liberal running the country, they know in their heart of hearts that only a conservative really knows how to manage the country's finances without sending us into a recession or taxing us to death. In the end, money in their pockets will speak the loudest.

I am not voting for him, but I think Obama will be the next president. He has a vision for the future and that's just what we need.

I just hope we get someone smart ... a critical thinker ... right now I like Ron Paul, Clinton, Obama ... but we have a long ways to go and I have yet made up my mind
